Young People Enjoy Boules at Monkstone

Recently Monkstone Petanque Club played host to a group of students with additional learning needs from Coleq y Cymoedd (Nantgarw). The college seeks to give the students experience of all different types of sporting activity.

The group consisted of 5 students and 3 teachers/assistants which divided up very nicely into 2 sets of doubles. Club members Keith Thomas, Roger Griffin, Mike Jones & Bernard Adshead were on hand to explain the game and provide some gentle coaching.

The students had varying degrees of impairment but all took to the game, as did the teachers/assistants, and were very competitive. The Club members found it a very rewarding experience and following the success of the morning, it is hoped that in the future we can host further groups from Coleq y Cymoedd.
