Making Connections!!

Members of Monkstone Petanque Club joined forces at the weekend with the Dartmouth Petanque Club where they met with club members. Captain of the club John Boyes, a retired police officer guided them around their brand new piste at Stoke Fleming. Dartmouth club had hitherto made use of a piste at Norton Holiday Park but had been given notice to leave by the new owners of the park. With generous donations from club members Dartmouth  club were able to erect a new purpose built facility in the lovely setting behind Stoke Flemming Community Hall, Devon.

It is hoped that the club will now go from strength to strength and we can arrange some Wales v England return matches!

In glorious sunshine in Carteret, Normandy, the Coupe Rondreux doubles concours was held on 26 July 2014. Twenty two pairs including Monkstone club’s Vickie & Bernard Adshead (the only non-French pair) played out a hard fought competition over 4 rounds. The Monkstone pair started slowly losing to 1 and 3 but having got the feel of the piste and the measure of their French opponents took the remaining games to 8 and 11 ensuring a finish just in the top half of the table and winning 2 bottles of Cote du Rhone.

The format of the evening will be:
– Club members will form teams with our guests and offer guidance on how the game is played, but many of our guests will know the ropes by now.
