Club to Reopen Next Week

Following today’s announcement by the Welsh Government outlining the rules that will apply when the current lockdown ends at midnight on next Sunday, Monkstone Petanque Club is pleased to confirm that it will reopen on Monday 9 November 2020 with the usual Monday Roll-up.

Covid-19 Closes Club Again

In line with the Welsh Government restrictions announced on Monday 19 October 2020, Monkstone Petanque Club will cease all activities from 6pm on Friday 23 October 2020. No pistes can be booked until at least 9 November 2020.

It is hoped that we will be able to reopen on 9 November 2020 but this will depend on the lifting of the restrictions by the Welsh Government.

Keep safe and hopefully we can recommence playing in November.

Friday Roll-up Introduced

Following the success of the Monday Roll-up, we are introducing the Friday Roll-up to further increase the interaction between Club members commencing this Friday, 4 September 2020.

The format, rules and restrictions will be exactly the same as the current Monday Roll-up.

Monday Roll-up Returns

Monkstone Petanque Club announced earlier this week the return of the Monday Roll-up albeit in a slightly modified form. For the time being there will be no refreshments offered but it is hoped to re-introduce that in the near future.

Dear Member

Members are advised that the Monday Roll-up will recommence on Monday 17 August 2020 at 10:00am. The number of pistes in use (6) will continue as at present, so there will be a limit of 24 people. There will not be an actual “Roll-up” and the teams will be selected by random draw.

It will not be possible to book a specific piste on a Monday morning but a new “Monday Roll-up” calendar has been added. As for all other sessions, bookings can only be made 7 days in advance and members can only book for themselves. There MUST NOT be more than one name on a booking.

If you have any problems booking please contact myself or Roger Griffin who will be pleased to assist. If you are unable to book because the limit has been reached, please contact myself and, if you want to play the following week you will be given priority.

Members are advised that no practice is allowed before the Monday Roll-up and its continuation is very much dependent on SOCIAL DISTANCING being strictly observed before, during and after play. Please ensure that you are familiar with the “Social Distancing Protocols for Doubles Play” in the current Guidelines on the Club website.

Please could members also remember that the booking system serves as a record of who was playing and when. This would be very important in the event of an incident of Covid-19 infection. If you make a booking for singles or practice and then add someone to that booking you MUST specifically advise Bernard Adshead by email on treasurer [at] monkstonepetanque [dot] org [dot] uk or on WhatsApp on 07768317057 so that the records can be updated. Please do not assume that it will be picked up from other exchanges of e-mails or WhatsApp messages.
