40 members (41 with Vickie & Bernard merging into one player) gathered today for the MPC Easter Egg Melee – probably the best Easter Egg Melee in the world where everyone gets a prize.
The day proved to be bright and sunny with a cool breeze as Round 1 got underway, after which Alex Skibinski & Vanessa Jones led the way on 1 win [+13] with Leon Sofianos & Spencer Bartlett [+11] and Sharon Paynter & Keith Thomas [+10] close behind.
As usual, Round 2 began to shake up the field and as it finished Alex Skibinski had a clear lead on 2 wins [+20], followed by Leon Sofianos [+18] and Linda Lippett, Sharon Paynter & Andrew Jones all [+16]
So it was on to the final round. Could Alex hold onto his lead or would Leon, Linda, Sharon or Andrew, or somebody lower down the field come through to take the trophy? Alex, Leon & Linda all fell at the last hurdle leaving 8 players on 3 wins. As the scores came through it was looking as if we would need a Golden End to decide the winner with Mike Jones & Linda Thomas, both of whom registered 13-0 wins to shoot up the leaderboard, on 3 wins [+26]. In the end Sharon Paynter who had been around the top since Round 1 came through with a 13-2 win to register [+27].
Well done to Sharon on joining the pantheon of Easter Egg Melee winners.
