\"\"In celebration of International Women’s Day yesterday, Monkstone Petanque Club is proud to have hosted a women’s melee competition which was organised by club member Gill Greenwell. 44 women from various clubs in and around Cardiff took part in the 3 round event.<\/p>\n

Cakes and other goodies were provided for the competitors to enjoy during breaks in play.<\/p>\n

After a competitive but friendly competition the abacus was got out to compute the results and the following winners were declared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
1st.\u00a0 Ali Robertson (Llandaff)<\/td>\n2nd. Nicole Blake (Greenlawn)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
3rd. Gail Brooksbank (Wheatsheaf)<\/td>\n4th.\u00a0 Gill Clark (Monkstone)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

All agreed that it had been a great day and it was mooted that it should become a fixture in the South Wales petanque calendar.<\/p>\n

Well done, especially to Gill for all her hard work in organising the day but also to the other 43 women who turned up to play and the men who came to help and support the event.<\/p>\n
