Recently Monkstone Petanque Club played host to a group of students with additional learning needs from Coleq y Cymoedd (Nantgarw). The college seeks to give the students experience of all different types of sporting activity.<\/span><\/p>\n

The group consisted of 5 students and 3 teachers\/assistants which divided up very nicely into 2 sets of doubles. Club members Keith Thomas, Roger Griffin, Mike Jones & Bernard Adshead were on hand to explain the game and provide some gentle coaching.<\/span><\/p>\n

The students had varying degrees of impairment but all took to the game, as did the teachers\/assistants, and were very competitive. The Club members found it a very rewarding experience and following the success of the morning, it is hoped that in the future we can host further groups from Coleq y Cymoedd.<\/span><\/p>\n
